Purupuru Pururin, a nonexistent anime
Purupuru Pururin is a song from an anime that does not really exist.
What??
Okay, let’s start over. The series “Welcome to NHK” is an anime that tells the story of a hikikomori. The neighbour of this hikikomori is an otaku called Yamakazi, who is obsessed with the anime “Purupuru Pururin”, which theme blasts from his TV all day long.
The anime that Yamazaki is so crazy about, was invented by the makers of “Welcome to NHK” to give more consistency to the characters’ personalities. Interestingly, the character (a girl with blue hair) was especially invented for the series and the show carries a very catchy theme.
So what has happened now? Well, this particular anime shown within the NHK series has exceeded its expectations and has been welcomed by many otakus as one of their favourite anime. The theme song Purupuru Pururin can be heard from the mobile telephones and alarm clocks of hundreds of fans.
Below, you can hear the song that has revolutionized the otaku world.
You can clearly see how the Japanese have adopted this anime. In addition to being well made, the video has, in one day, become one of the most valued three videos in Japan.

I understand how they feel. I like that song too
