The female ninja, assassin in the shadows
Even though some films and video games have a female ninja as the lead character, the ninja’s history has given more importance to the history of the male ninja than the female ninja. A Female Shadow Warrior is maybe more mysterious than any male ninja and her weapon skills are perhaps just as deadly as of the male ninja.
In Japanese, the female ninja is called kunoichi and written as “く ノ一” It consists of the hiragana “ku”, katakana “no” and the kanji of ”ichi” (one). The lines of “く ノ 一” are the same lines that you use for the kanji for woman 女.

Women, just like men, were perfect killers, but the kunoichi had to demonstrate their ability in a world dominated by men. Besides that, they had to be martial arts experts and of course train other skills that made them very dangerous enemies, even more feared than a male ninja. The saying “a woman’s weapon” defines a kunoichi perfectly.
The kunoichi knew how to control a man’s desire and handle it as she pleased. Sometimes she would marry him to earn his confidence and make her espionage purposes easier.
A female ninja used ninja’s weapons, although some of them were unusual, just like the special fan (sensu); these were made especially for the kunoichi. This was not the only female weapon; a kunoichi could also use an umbrella or sticks that were used for her hair. The kunoichi was able to break bones with the stilts that are used for walking.
Poison was one of their priorities and a kunoichi learned this mastery very early as they made her weapons deadlier and gave the ability to kill faster, so the victim could not ask for help. When she used her seduction techniques, she would often camouflage her weapons. It was very important to have small weapons so she could kill somebody in just one blow, and using the poison would of course facilitate the task.
Now it’s time to write about the most lethal weapon and this was her beauty, she mastered the art of seduction perfectly and she was able to approach any man and make him completely defenseless.
If it was necessary to spy on a man, the beauty of the kunoichi made that task much easier to accomplish. There was no ninja that was able to perform this task better than a kunoichi.
The female’s clothes were similar to the men’s, but when the kunoichi had to wear a kimono it had an advantage, she could easily hide her weapons in the kimono as it is a wide costume.
